Mountain Biking Diary - Beautiful Malaysia

Since this is my first blog, I thought it would be good to find a topic of
interest. Coincidentally, I just picked up a new hobby. Mountain Biking !!!

Objective of writing this blog is to improve my writing/publishing
skill. At the same time, sharing my opinions with other enthusiasts, especially
the newbies into this hobby/sport.

Here are some quick facts:
- Purchased Proton T-Bolt bike for RM850. Full suspension bike
- Broke mid suspension on the 2nd week
- Instead of replacing it, i changed the whole frame to hard tail. Paid another RM650
- Initial body weight was 107KG. Lost 2.5KG after a month of ride.
- Once weeknight for 15KM at residential area at night
- Once weekend for 15KM offroad (Forest Reserve, Rubber Research Institude, etc)

For all beginners, Here are my advise (if you bother):
- Identify who among your friends who ride. Best if their fitness is not far from yours.
Or else, i would likely give up on first ride. Push bicycle if needed to. Its ok as long as
you keep moving. If you are a hermit (no friends), you must have determination to
ride alone. Or stop reading from here.
- Know your budget. Out of 10 friends who bought the Proton bike with me have
mostly upgraded their bikes. And on average, spending another RM1,500 each.
If you falls under the "don't wanna left behind" category of personality, do start this
sport with slightly thicker wallet or hand bag. In my personal opinion, a GOOD ENUF
bike should cost RM3500-4000, including accessories (helmet, night light etc). If you
still can't ride, its not the bike's limitation. You know what.... :)
- Having said above statement, a 60 years old uncle could ride RM500 bike further and
faster than me. No, he is not SuperUncle. But he has been riding for years. Its all about
building your stamina and technique.
